ZabihaScan

Terms of Use

Last updated August 2026

This is a starting template for a small community project, not professionally drafted legal advice. Consider having it reviewed before relying on it for anything high-stakes.

1. Acceptance of terms

By using ZabihaScan (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What the Service is

ZabihaScan is a free, community-maintained tool that estimates whether a product's ingredients are halal, haram, or doubtful (mashbooh), based on optical character recognition of photographed ingredient labels and a curated ingredient dataset. It is not a religious certification, fatwa, or professional advice of any kind, and results may be incomplete or incorrect.

3. Contributions

If you submit photos, barcodes, or other content ("Contributions"), you confirm you have the right to submit them and grant ZabihaScan a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and use them to operate and improve the Service. Contributions are not compensated.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Submit photos or barcodes that are false, misleading, or not your own to contribute
  • Attempt to abuse, overload, or circumvent the Service's rate limits or security
  • Upload content that infringes someone else's rights or is unlawful

5. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that verdicts are accurate, complete, or up to date. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZabihaScan and its contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
